A pattern/garment collection was made as a suggestion for Emmamalena AW21 collection.
The collection was researched and planned during the three months internship and completed at the end of that time. To visualize the original digital collection, the barnacle dress was knitted up on a silver reed machine.
Inspiration had a geographic boundary and had to be found within a couple of kilometres from the company starting point, an island called Käringön on the Swedish west coast. All garments are named after real people in true emmamalena style and come in two colour settings each.
Ranrike is an old name for the northern Swedish archipelago and is believed to derive its name from the Old Norse goddess of the sea, Rán.
Each pattern was first hand sketched, then digitalised in Illustrator, where colour was added and a repeat was created.
A fair isle knit pattern was programmed for the silver reed hand-knit machine. The final dress was knitted on the silver reed with white and beige four-plied cotton yarn.
